Rockwood is one of the world's leading suppliers of inorganic pigments such as synthetic and natural iron oxide color pigments and corrosion-inhibiting pigments. Rockwood offers a full line of red, yellow and black synthetic iron oxides. High-strength versions feature cleaner color shades, better rheology, dispersability and color saturation. In addition to a full line of iron oxides, Rockwood offers natural earth pigments and PhosGuard® corrosion inhibitors. PhosGuard® proprietary corrosion inhibitors contain no lead or chrome and are the active ingredient in many rust-blocking paints and coatings. Rockwood also manufactures a wide range of zinc-based corrosion inhibitors and traditional chromates.

Rockwood manufactures and supplies all forms of inorganic pigments for use by manufacturers of coatings, plastics, rubber, paper, vinyl, colorants, cosmetics, pet food & feed, ink, toner, abrasives, adhesives, wood stains and other industrial uses. They manufacture or process pigments for color applications, corrosion protection, UV protection, weather resistance, flame suppression, utility coding and other properties. Rockwood's manufacturing sites are located in Beltsville, Maryland; St. Louis, Missouri; Los Angeles, California; Walluf, Germany; Matlock, United Kingdom; Torino, Italy and Shanghai, China. Our main Sales, R&D and technical service laboratories are located in Beltsville, Los Angeles, Walluf, Matlock, Torino with additional sales offices located in Shanghai and Singapore. Warehouse stocks and sales representatives are located in major cities throughout the US, Europe and in selected Asia Pacific cities.

In 2004 Rockwood acquired Johnson Matthey PLC. The acquisition expanded Rockwood's global pigments capabilities with a full range of transparent iron oxide pigments and dispersions, color concentrates and other color pigments for the surface and wood coatings, plastics, building materials and printing inks markets.
